I am filled with excitement and anticipation as I stare down the final countdown to Christmas and New Years. I look forward to 2018 and the opportunity to serve you through words.
I’m also ready to bid a firm “see ya later” to 2017.
2017 was hard.
We walked through the hard “after the airport” days of adoption. (OK, I walked through the hard “after the airport” days. Everyone else was just fine, but that’s for another post.) We said goodbye to family and friends that we had spent a decade living near and our very first home.
God shaped me and molded me this year in ways that were incredible, yet painful. I long for growth, but seasons of pruning are brutal. Good, Godly fruit doesn’t happen overnight.
I’m always grateful when I make it through a hard season because of the growth that occurs. 2017 has given me the ability to live expectantly. How could I not be grateful?
Here are some truths I’m treasuring this Christmas and walking into 2018 with:
When my plans don’t work out, I can live expectantly.
When I can’t heal my child’s hurt or pain, I can live expectantly.
When something doesn’t work out perfectly, I can live expectantly.
When people change their minds about me, I can live expectantly.
When I fail, I can live expectantly.
I cry as I write these words, because living expectantly is life changing. When we have Jesus, we know without a doubt that whatever we face something AMAZING is coming.
We can live expectantly because of Christmas. A babe coming to earth to save us from our sins.
Hope. Joy. Peace.
Merry Christmas, friends. May you run fully into 2018 expectant of all that God has for you.
"That is why I wait expectantly, trusting God to help, for he has promised."
Psalm 130:5 (TLB)
