The World Needs You to Come Alive

Lauren holding final book manuscript

“The world doesn’t need another book. It needs you to come alive.”

I was part of a training course for writers tonight given by best-selling author and hope*writers co-founder, Emily P. Freeman. She said this quote and it instantly brought a smile to my face.

Writing makes me come alive. It’s without a doubt the hardest thing I’ve done in my career, but it’s also been the most rewarding.

When I decided to write Made for More, I didn’t even need to do a Google search to know that millions of books had already been written. You don’t even have to be a good writer to publish a book anymore. Thanks, Amazon!

Isn’t 2019 wild?

Here’s the problem with the noisy and overcrowded world that we live in today. When the world seems full, we shrink back from our callings.

We decide that someone has already done it or too many people are doing it. We can for sure find someone doing it on Instagram. So, we stay silent and struggle to live out our callings.

This makes me incredibly sad.

We think someone else writes the books that set people free.

We think someone else starts organizations that serve kids or families.

We think someone else volunteers at school.

We think someone else leads the Bible study.

We think someone else mentors the next generation.

Someone else may just be you, alive and thriving in God’s calling.

There is hope and encouragement when life seems unbearably loud yet you feel that pull in your heart and you aren’t sure if you should go for it or not.

When the world seems full, there’s always space for your calling.

There are without a doubt people already doing a version of the thing you are called to do, but the world needs YOU. No one has the community that you have. No one has the perspectives that you have. No one has the unique, God-given calling that you most certainly have.

I learned early on in my writing journey that calling quiets the noise. Success becomes completely about faithfulness and not numbers. To God be all the glory.

Whatever God has placed on your heart that makes you come alive, go for it, friend.

We need you to come alive.

“The one who calls you is faithful …” 1 Thessalonians 5:24
