To My Daughter's Bio Mom the Night Before Kindergarten
You’re always at the forefront of my mind.
Especially on birthdays or anytime something exciting happens in Brielle’s life.
Tomorrow she starts Kindergarten. She genuinely loves learning and playing with friends so she is going to LOVE school.
Tonight though, I thought of you and cried as I remembered that you are missing her first day of Kindergarten. There will always be so many things I wish you were here for. I know it’s crazy to say because she wouldn’t be here with me if you could be. But still, I wish you were here.
I wish you were here to watch her pick out her first-day outfit. She picked a dress, of course. She loves dressing up and always asks me if she looks pretty. She always looks pretty.
I wish you were here to pick out her lunchbox and backpack. Both are pink. Her lunch box has a large clear heart filled with glitter on the front that Brielle absolutely loves. She’s carried it around the house in excitement since the day I bought it.
I wish you were here to pack that amazing glitter-filled lunchbox with food. She’s opted for a Nutella sandwich for her first day and is forgoing the cafeteria chicken and fried rice. I’m not sure how you’d feel about that food choice though.
I wish you were here to walk her to class tomorrow. Her teacher is incredible. Brielle’s older brother had her last year and she loves kids well. She’ll be well taken care of and she’s going to learn so much.
I wish you could see the way she hugs her teachers, too. She loves big and I can’t help but think maybe she got that from you.
I wish you were here to watch her ride the bus for the first time. She is counting down the days until she can finally ride that big yellow bus that she’s had to watch her siblings ride without her.
There is so much that I wish for when I think about you.
Tonight she told me that she would miss me but that Jesus would be in her heart to help her. You would be so proud of her. Her bright personality is going to change that elementary school for the better. Her smile lights up a room and her laugh could make even the saddest person happy. Maybe she gets that from you, too.
She’s so ready to take on this new chapter.
And I just wanted you to know that I was thinking about you tonight.
Our girl is amazing.
